"If a person likes you, he will make an attempt to understand you.
For the rest, you are always wrong and for such people, there is no need to waste energy on explanations!"

The Amazing Art Form of Archery

The art of archery appears as the major method of warfare in the ancient epics and thus archery was the most classical method of fighting battles in the earlier times. This term can be aptly defined as the skill or practice of shooting arrows at the aim by means of a bow. It was the major means for hunting and fighting during the olden age, however, in the recent times it has been only used for recreation.

The person who actually practices archery is known as an ‘archer’ or even as a ‘bowman’ whereas the person who is extremely fond of this art or is a great professional at archery is named as the ‘toxophilite’. Bows and arrows together constitute the entire set-up of archery and it is surprising to note that the bows were created somewhere in the Paleolithic or Mesolithic age.

There is no evidence of the usage of the bows before the Paleolithic or Mesolithic eras and only pointed shafts have been found as the part of the recorded history. The initial arrows used in archery have been thought to have been made from pine and the Egyptian culture also proves the use of bows and arrows which is greatly evident from the predynastic origins.

Several classical civilizations such as the Indians, Koreans, Chinese, Japanese and others have been known to use archers in their armies and in fact their armies mainly consisted of professional archers who have strong expertise and skill. However, with the development in technology, bows and arrows became quite useless and have been completely taken away from battles and wars in today’s world.

There are several varieties of bow which is prepared and one of the common parts which are present in both the primitive and contemporary bows is the presence of a string which in turn is tied to the ends of the flexible limb. Two vide varieties of bows have been found in use: One of the kinds is drawn by directly pulling the string and the other involves a detailed mechanism to pull the string.

Compound bows are becoming quite famous in the recent times wherein we can observe that they are designed in such a way so as to reduce the energy applied by the archer to pull the string and hence the user can aim better using this bow. In order to achieve this effect, these kinds of bows are equipped with cams or elliptical wheels which are present on each of the ends of the limbs.

Arrows are mostly designed like a shaft with an arrowhead at the front part and fletchings (made from bird feathers) and nock can be attached to the other end of the arrow. The shaft part of the arrow can be composed of several parts like fiberglass, solid wood, aluminium alloy, carbon fiber, and even composite materials.

Archery is slowly edging towards an amazing competitive sport and men and women are both getting inclined towards this amazing art form.

The Basics about Baseball

The game of baseball is quite similar to cricket and is a pure bat-and-ball game. The game usually includes two teams, each of which has nine players. The manner in which points are scored in the game is by hitting the ball and then the challenge is to be able to touch a series of four bases which are arranged in the form of a diamond at the corner points of a ninety-foot square.

The teams playing the game operated under two broad categories – the batting team and the fielding team. Players of the batting team try to hit against the pitchers of the fielding team and the teammates of the fielding team try their level best to prevent the batting team from scoring runs. A player while he is playing for the batting team can stop at one of the bases and can resume play after the teammate has made a hit.

The teams alternate between batting and fielding and this happens when the fielding team manages to take three outs. An inning is marked when a team gets to bat and in professional games is completed with nine innings and the team which attempts to score the maximum during the game is declared as the winner.

The oldest version of baseball was played in the United Kingdom in the middle of the eighteenth century and later on Irish and British immigrants brought the game to North America and from then on the contemporary version of the game begun. Baseball began to be regarded as the National Sport of the United States and the game is played on the youth, amateur and professional levels.

The teams involved in a game of baseball alternate between taking offense and defense and a pair of turns which is inclusive of one attempt at batting and another one at fielding together constitutes an innings. Mostly it is the visiting team which bats first and the home team takes up the second turn. If both the teams earn the same score, then extra innings are allowed for both the teams so as to find the winner of the game.

Protective helmets and gloves or mitts are the fielding tools used for the game. Pitch selection is one of the very important tactical decisions involved in a game of baseball. One of the crucial facts of the game is that the right-hand batters are generally said to be successful in opposite to left-handed pitchers and the vice versa also holds true that left-handed batters fair well against right-handed pitchers.

One of the important aspects of this game is that the baseball fields can vary drastically in their shape and sizes. Various writers have referred to baseball as America’s national religion and are also becoming highly popular in several countries around the world.

The game is in turn is a kind of inspiration in the art and entertainment industry and has also helped to formulate renewed cultural forms. Baseball continues to grow as a major sport and bestows sheer joy and happiness to players and the spectators.

Happy New Year!

A day begins with a new feeling,

A new sense of our existence

Good-Bye’s to the yesterdays’

And a smile for the tomorrow

With a hope for the best

For the dreams we envision

The belief for a better year

Lies deep in our heart, so

Let’s wipe those tears and grief

Which still cloud our thoughts

And Embrace the New visitor

Who eagerly waits at our door

With a big smile to begin that perfect day!

Happy New Year!
